The best fashion advice I’d say would be just to do what makes you comfortable and what makes you feel cute, and that’s how you’re gonna look your best ’cause when you feel your best, everybody else can feel it, too - (Ariana Grande)
Looking beautiful and fashionable is considered to be an integral part of one’s personality.
Be it a party or a regular office day, projecting your best image is vital. This makes it important to follow the rules of fashion when you are donning your favorite outfit.Restricting yourself to a particular style would become too plain and monotonous as fashion and style trends change with every season. Therefore, you need to update your wardrobe regularly to keep up with the latest fashion trends.
Fashion Trends of 2014
2014 started with a burst of colors in the fashion arena. Various combinations of patterns and colors took the spring and summer collection by storm this year.
- Different hues of orange: Being called the new black in the fashion world, different hues of orange flashed all over the spring collection in 2014. From the fiery shade of orange to the bland ones, it has become a huge craze in the market. Whether it is shoes, bags or clothes, everything can be seen flaunted in various shades of orange. The trend has taken such a turn that experts are thinking of changing the phrase ‘Paint the town red’ to ‘Paint the town orange’.
Bright and colorful, this shade can be worn to any party. While you can experiment with various shades of orange, an orange colored office wear will get a bit overboard.
- The combination of black and white: The black and white combination has always been considered professional, though outright boring. However, in the recent New York Fashion Week, it created waves on the fashion floor. Mixed with different shades of pink, these combinations could be seen in dresses and outfits at different levels. Black and white was also combined with different icy pastels to create beautiful knee length dresses that can be worn to a party or office.

Although all these dresses looked stunning at the ramp, the black and white combination, undoubtedly, looks a little drab. To break the monotony, mix it with other hues and patterns along with bright accessories for a stylish makeover.
- Shades in cocktail dresses: Cocktail dresses have always fascinated designers and wearers alike. Maybe that was reason why different spring collections in 2014 featured various shades of solid colors in cocktail dresses.
One of the best innovations was using the color of rocket fuel in cocktail dresses. This gave the dresses a space age look with a lustrous shine. The colors of rocket fuel were also combined with other hues like shades of red to give the dress a different dimension.
- The play of shadows: 2014 fashion trends also saw some shadow play in different fashion weeks, and witnessed the emergence of sheer clothing once again. However, this time, these sheer dresses were not confined to colors only. They also had some artistic detailing done on the arms and bodice, which created a shadowy look.
Clearly taking the inspiration from autumn’s leafy colors, these sheer dresses presented a collection, which was beautiful and ethereal in nature.
- The folklore of autumn: As the spring and summer collection ends, it is now time to make way for autumn and winter collection of 2014. This fashion year can be called a season of inspiration. Designers have taken different folklore patterns and colors, along with shades of autumn, to splash the bodice of different dresses and gowns.
Bringing in simplicity along with a decorative outlook, this season has a blend of primitive genre with innovation and classy detailing.
Trends have been broken to make way for different fashion statements that have taken the stage by storm. Designers in 2014 have stuck to their basic instincts to create a subtle yet fashionable look for all.
