As an avid digital marketer, I am expecting wearable technology to take over the world…. and am preparing for the day when I will optimize my site for your fancy smartwatches.
This is not here yet but it doesn’t stop Google from taking the next step. They’ve partnered with Levi’s to launch Project Jacquard and put smartwatches and smart glasses technology into woven fabrics. If you ask me, I don’t have a clear picture of how your jeans will become tech savvy but I am sure it will be incredible.
When it came to choosing a first partner for Project Jacquard, the Levi’s brand was a natural fit. Levi’s is an iconic brand with deep Bay area roots — authentic and also highly innovative and fashionable. Levi’s brings to Jacquard their deep knowledge and understanding of apparel, their consumers and what they value
The first products are expected in fall 2016.
In our hyper-digital world, people constantly struggle to be physically present in their environment while maintaining a digital connection. The work that Google and Levi’s are embarking upon with Project Jacquard delivers an entirely new value to consumers with apparel that is emotional, aspirational and functional.
So, how will your trendy denim look in 2016?
I don’t know that but I am sure we should also ask what it will do. Are we going to sport jeans that measure our body temperature, help us stay fit or change color to sync with the palette of your outfit? For now, Levi’s VP only mentioned that the project will empower clothes as a platform, not a device. I can’t wait to see!Quoted: fashiontimes.com
