  • Avoid long showers. Although it feels good to have a long hot shower, this removes the skin’s natural oils, making skin dry, which also makes it dull.
  • Exfoliate gently to get rid of dead skin cells that accumulate on the surface of skin and contribute to a dull and imperfect complexion.

  • Get glowing skin, not oily skin! Keep your skin’s oil production in check with avocado. Simply scoop out the flesh of an avocado and mash it up, then apply it to your face. Let it sit for approximately 15 minutes before washing it off. If you like, you can add other anti-oil ingredients to the avocado mixture, such as a tablespoon of olive oil or honey.
  • Get enough sleep! Psychological stress can lead to acne because it produces stress hormones, so by sleeping you help to ease the flare-ups. According to a study published in Sleep, for every hour of sleep you don’t get, your stress can increase by up to 14 percent. Make sure you stick to a sleep routine to ensure calmer, clearer skin.

Even if you’re lathering on wrinkle creams and eating healthy foods for more youthful skin, you might be committing skin faux pas that are causing wrinkles.

  • Sleep on your back! If you are pressing you face into your pillow for hours every night, this can lead to the formation of lines that don’t budge. Try to sleep on your back as much as possible so that you prevent this from happening.
  • Text less. If you’re constantly looking down at your phone, you’re putting your neck at risk of what scientists call ‘tech-neck.’  This refers to wrinkles that are being formed on people’s necks because they’re constantly leaning or bending to look at their devices throughout the day. It might not seem like a problem, but if you consider how research by Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers has found that the average person will check their phone up to 150 times a day, then it’s definitely something of which to be aware.
  • Perk up with egg. The use of eggs for beauty goes back to 600 B.C. Egg whites specifically should be applied to the skin on your face and neck as they have a tightening effect, giving you a temporary facelift!
