Every woman wants long, luscious, sexy eyelashes but not everybody is blessed with them. Playing with false lashes will allow you to create the luxurious eyes your deserve.
The whole process only takes three minutes once you practice the application a few times, so using false eyelashes is definitely a fast and easy way to instantly brighten up your eyes for a day of shopping or an evening out!
Step 1: Start with Your Natural Eyelashes
Start off with freshly made up eyes and clean lashes. Coat your natural lashes with mascara. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect; the only purpose of mascara is to act as glue to hold fake lashes and your natural lashes together. Lightly crimp your eyelashes after putting on the mascara.
Step 2: Prepare Your False Eyelashes
Unless your eyes are super wide, you’ll need to snip the ends off of the fake lashes. Faux lashes that are too long will poke the corners of your eyes and cause lots of discomfort. The side where you cut them will cover the outer corner of your eye, while the side with the shorter lashes will end up at the front.
Step 3: Apply the Glue
Put glue on the false lash line carefully. Don’t overdo it because you don’t want a thick line of transparent rubber on your lid when it’s dry. After applying the glue, wait at least a few seconds for it to become semi-dry and sticky. Remember that the side where you cut fake eyelashes goes over the outer corner of your eye.
Step 4: Apply the Eyelashes
Use your index fingers to gently press the glued lash line onto your natural lash line, starting from the end of your eye towards the front. This will ensure that your natural lashes are stuck together with the faux lashes, so that the end result looks more natural.
Step 5: Finish It up!
Put another coat of mascara onto the false eyelashes after you are done with both eyes. This will make the fake lashes look more natural. You’re done.
You can now do some last touch-ups removing smudges and retracing your eye line if needed.
How to Create Natural Looks
If you are new to false eyelashes or would like to create very natural looks (especially for all-day makeup), try individual lashes instead. One of my favorite makeup artists Lisa Eldridge prefers working with individual eyelashes when creating red carpet looks (as she reveals in the video below). She made this awesome video tutorial on applying individual eyelashes that will help you master the process:
How to Take off False Eyelashes
When the time comes to remove makeup, take the lashes off by putting some makeup remover or vaseline onto your eyes. Wait a couple of seconds: your fake lashes should come off easily. Try to avoid pulling them off without any makeup remover or vaseline because you don’t want to risk losing some of your natural lashes. Clean your false lashes with the makeup remover if needed (they can last for two weeks or so – it depends on the brand).
