I never thought about couples sharing pampering routines until I saw this interview in Yahoo! Beauty. What a neat idea! Many couples love couple massages, why not indulge into self-pampering together?
For Olivia Palermo’s German model husband Johannes Huebl grooming comes with the territory. Maybe this routine is not for every couple but it can give you some fruitful ideas.
Yahoo Beauty: Olivia you grew up in the U.S.A and Johannes, in Germany. What do you notice as being the biggest difference in grooming culture between Europe and the U.S.?
Johannes Huebl: It’s difficult to speak for the entire European continent because there are very different grooming methods in say England, or Sweden. I haven’t done enough of a case study to find the big differences. But between the ages of 20-40, men start taking grooming very seriously, or on the other end, they will go full hippie.
Johannes, what’s one product Olivia uses that you’ve tried or wanted to try?
Huebl: Probably a body wash she has. We have a shower that we share, and when she come out she always smells great.
Olivia Palermo: Thank you!
Olivia, what products of Johannes have you used and secretly love?
Palermo: Sunscreen. One of his sunscreens the last time we were on vacation.
What’s one grooming product neither of you can live without?
Palermo: SK-II hydrating masks. They’re amazing for when I travel.
Huebl: I only use La Mer.
We’ve worked with them, and that was the first time I discovered their products. My mother loves it too.Palermo: I’m wearing the body cream right now!
What is both of your greatest indulgence / self-pampering method when it comes to grooming?
Palermo: Getting my manis and pedis down in Tribeca at M spa.
Huebl: Probably a massage. Although, I don’t do those too often, usually after a long flight to Asia.
Is having a consideration or interest in grooming something you’ve both always had? Or have you cultivated it with age?
Palermo: Since I was a child, I’ve always had a very high maintenance routine. My baby nurse and mother had me on a strict schedule and it just never changed.
Huebl: I’ve never had big rituals, but I guess as a teenager that’s usually when you discover your first Nivea products. They’re from Hamburg, which is where I’m from.
